Auburn, Alabama Comprehensive Plan
The Auburn Interactive Growth Model® (AIGM) provided the framework for the city’s award-winning comprehensive plan.
The city of Auburn was undergoing extraordinary growth and needed a growth management tool to forecast when and where growth would occur, including impacts of future annexations. The Interactive Growth Model incorporated Auburn’s “optimal boundary” in the study area so city planners could understand specific areas outside the city’s boundaries. The Interactive Growth Model® provided a data-driven approach for the city to address future growth and to enhance opportunities for economic development.
The model data was used to manage growth, plan capital improvements, and improve the quality of life for future residents. The City of Auburn was awarded with an Outstanding Planning Award for a Comprehensive Plan by the Alabama American Planning Association in 2009.
